Ponders – Context & Education

When I was younger I hated the plant science modules in biology. I was as an arrogant little £#!+ asking “what on earth do plants tell us, why don’t they teach us about the real world instead of xylem”. What an egiiit!

Context. It comes down to context. Our education system teaches us things in isolation, but we live in a highly interconnected world, where all the principles and processes we learn about, interact with one another and seldom occur in isolation. So why do we continue to work in silos?
